Elon University's Downtown Center for Community Engagement, located at 217 East Davis Street Burlington, NC Fair Districts Forum Burlington Public Event . Fair Districts NC and the NC Council of Churches are organizing this community forum to inform voters on what gerrymandering is and why we must end this corrupt practice now, before the next redistricting (right after the 2020 Census). President Ronald Reagan said it best when he called for "an end to the un-American and anti-democratic practice of gerrymandering....It isn't just the district lines that [are] bent out of shape, it's the American values of fair play and decency and it's time we stopped....It's time to give the votes back to the people."

This forum will explain how gerrymandering works and, more importantly, how it is undermining our democracy, how we can end it, and what you the voter can do about it. Please join us for a stimulating, nonpartisan, and eye-opening discussion on one of the most critical issues facing our state.

Environmental Issues Monthly Meeting. With the now known high levels of PFAS coming down the Haw River into Jordan Lake, we are going to address the dangerous presence of them in our everyday lives. We will learn how only one lawyer made the danger of this chemical family known to the general public, how the danger was concealed by Dupont, and his very slow process of having the EPA intervene on the public's behalf.

We will learn about the ubiquitousness of PFAS, the duration of them, the illnesses and maladies that they cause. Also, unusual places where they have been found.

Afterwards, there will be a discussion and possibility of forming an action team if there is an interest.

I hope that you can join us, this meeting will be an eye opener for those who attend.
